The Redding Education Foundation's (REF) C.O.R.E. initiative is a program to honor outstanding educators and student achievement. What is C.O.R.E.? C.O.R.E. provides parents, guardians, relatives and friends a tangible means to positively impact Redding schools through support of The Redding Education Foundation as they provide grants for innovative educational initiatives. How does C.O.R.E. work? Any educator or staff member who has made a contribution to a child's education can be honored with a donation, made in their name, of up to $25 to REF. C.O.R.E. donations can not only honor educators but also donations can celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, religious holidays, or student achievements. There is no maximum donation for non-educator honorees. How will C.O.R.E. acknowledge the educator? REF will arrange for each student to present the honored staff member with a certificate of recognition and a token of appreciation will be delivered. How will the monies raised by C.O.R.E. be used? All donations honoring Redding Elementary and John Read Middle Schools educators will be used to support innovative educational initiatives within the Redding public schools. Funds honoring Joel Barlow educators will be combined with a similar initiative sponsored by The Easton Learning Foundation (ELF) to support innovative educational initiatives at Joel Barlow. Examples of some past grants include a computer practice-writing program at John Read, two Smart boards at Redding Elementary and participation in a symposium about high schools of the future. How can I participate in C.O.R.E?
